
Workshop for Organizations Owning Polychlorinated Biphenyls
The official website of the Ministry of Environment of Armenia informs that a training workshop for organizations owning PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) on accounting, sampling and labeling of PCB-containing oils and equipment took place, under “Regional Demonstration Project for Coordinated Management of ODS and POPs Disposal in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia” jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan highlighted the importance of disposal of PCB-containing oils, which is one of the obligations under the Stockholm Convention on “Persistent Organic Pollutants”.
The training was held by Professor Ivan Holoubek, Director of Research Centre for Toxic Compounds in the Environment (RECETOX) of Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.
