Eating Locally is Sustainable

World Economic Forum informs that one of the key components of eating sustainably is eating locally-grown food.

One of the reasons to eat locally is distance. When you eat locally, you are cutting back on the necessity of more resources. For example, water is the key to the growth of food and to have water, we need adequate rainfall and irrigation. Eating out of season means farmers have to ship food further away, which exacerbates the issue.

When eating locally, you are eating foods that likely have a higher nutrient count. Local foods are generally fresher — since they don’t need to be shipped anywhere and they have less of an environmental impact as opposed to frozen food which normally comes with single-use plastic packaging.
