Armenia in the Project Fighting Climate Change

CENN informs that Armenia joined the EU’s new regional initiative EU4Climate on 30 April. The goal of the project is to support the EU’s six Eastern partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) to implement climate-related policies.

The project is funded by the EU and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The total budget of the project is €8.8 million, of which Armenia will benefit from €857,000 from the initiative during 2019-2022.

Head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Armenia Gonzalo Serrano said that EU, with this new program, wants to support countries that are affected by climate change and help them to adjust to new conditions.

The program is based on experience in similar projects, partnerships and initiatives, as well as on EU and UNDP expertise in climate policy development and governance at regional and national levels.
